Or stupidly cheap?

Neither. It’s probably the one model that will transition over to Toyota. So no big change.

I talked about it in the other post, but Toyota would most likely kill it, Subie may(?) keep it.
I am thinking cheap.
And hoping.

Definitely going to maintain or lose value. Since Subaru has no intention (that I'm aware) of killing the BRZ, the Scions will just live on as the base model in the used car market.

If Toyota transitions them to GT86 badging with minimal change, they probably won’t see much change...the chances of them getting a rarity bump depend on people giving a damn about Scion, which they don’t.
If Toyota uses the badging shift as an excuse for a midcycle refresh and makes the package more appealing in some way, the values will push down much in the same way the price of used NC Miatas dropped noticeably after the NDs started getting delivered.

Super cheap... I wouldn’t buy a GT86 now for the good and simple reason that they will be worth nothing in 5 to 10 years. You can find some with 35 to 40000 miles on the clock for less than 14k$ here and it’s only going to get lower and lower. I’ll get one in a few years for 5k$ :)

Higher(ish) mile FRS’s go for the same around here...I eagerly await till they hit $10k or so

A refreshed version has been spied out and about, so it could debut as a Toyota.

The only problem with that is that I just bought a car and really shouldn’t be shopping for another one.

Cheap. They weren’t all that desirable in the first place.
I’d be surprised if they didn’t become a Toyota though.

Exactly, $5k FRS in less than 10 years is my goal!

I don’t think it will make any difference as the car will still be available just in a different badge. It’s not like Scion has much cachet as it was.

They will take a slight hit in depreciation, it always happens when cars get orphaned. It won’t be as significant as, say the Aura, since the enthusiast crowd the FR-S caters to are less sensitive to such things, and since the Scion brand was never that well separated from Toyota in the first place.
